heavy sterling silver statement necklace with handwritten Salinger quote

Inspired by my love of classic literature, I created this pendant out of sterling silver.
Engraved paisleys cover the front of the pendant. On the back, I wrote the following quote by JD Salinger.

She wasn't doing a thing I could see, except standing there leaning on the balcony railing, holding the universe together.

The pendant measures a hefty 2.5 inches tall by 1.5 inches tall.
I melted a smear of 23k yellow gold onto the front of the pendant.
The contrast is beautiful.
The pendant hangs from a 14k yellow gold ring.
A bit of alchemical symbology, gold representing the Sun from which the phoenix gets it's power of rebirth.

The entire piece was oxidized black, and then hand polished to bring out the details.
A blackened sterling silver chain completes the fierce look.
20.5 inch chain.
Rotating lobster clasp and hand wrapped link closure with a faceted iolite gemstone and baroque pearl wrapped in sterling silver wire and a herkimer diamond quartz wrapped in solid 14k rose gold wire.

This necklace weighs a hefty 40 grams!
